Job Description

Your duties will mainly be related to supervising Concept’s drilling and sampling activities and operations on site, ensuring company processes and policies are upheld.


You will be required to work mainly on site wherever Concepts field operations are taking place.


Key tasks are, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising specialist in situ testing, sampling, inspections of the geotechnical and built environment
  • Ensure in situ testing, sampling and inspections are carried out in accordance with the Specification and to the highest standards
  • Supervising the construction and preparation of access shafts, pits and trenches for safe access
  • Responsible for delivering specific aspects of projects to programme
  • Ensuring all equipment is checked, calibrated, well maintained and fit for purpose
  • Supervise the safe operation of structural coring and investigative equipment
  • To supervise and ensure the safety of the Operative team and any other work colleagues operating within the work area (point of work).
  • To ensure efficient work practices in accordance with British Standards and Industry Guidance to meet required production levels / output.
  • Mentoring and guiding of junior staff
  • Ensuring good housekeeping and adherence to Safe Systems of Work
  • Liaise with the Plant Manager for drilling equipment hire and purchasing as required including compressors, generators, breakers etc.
  • To produce daily records and journals and check Operatives daily records and logs
  • To work in accordance with the Company’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure the public image of Concept operations is never compromised
  • Report to the Site Project Manager on individual projects.

Experience/Qualifications

  • CSCS Gold Advanced Craft / Supervisors Card
  • Level 3 NVQ/SVQ
  • SMSTS / SSSTS
  • First aid trained
  • Experience of managing groundworks, sampling and field teams
  • Experience of structural coring, sampling, in situ testing and probing, trenches, pits and deep excavations
  • Experience of working in various ground conditions and built environments including contaminated land, Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Grade I and II Listed buildings, sites of National Heritage and importance and managing groundwater
  • Experience of various sampling and in situ testing techniques including structural coring, dynamic and window/windowless sampling as well as excavation using traditional hand methods and Vacuum Extraction.
  • Experience of structural investigation industry, working in confined spaces, building and built environment protection techniques
  • Experienced in reinstatement techniques and methods
  • Dedicated approach to health and safety and risk assessment
  • Maintenance and safety inspections of all types of sampling and probing machines and units used at Concept

  • A full UK driving license with B+E (towing)
